Young people are full of talent, ideas, energy, and an enterprising spirit. But they often don’t have people, places or experiences that sufficiently recognize their initiative and strengths. As a result, many youth feel disillusioned, unmotivated, or at best uncertain when it comes to their futures. With the right opportunities, however, they can develop the motivation, knowledge, habits, and skills to make the most of their potential.

Youth Express offers three innovative, out-of-school time programs, focused on entrepreneurship and leadership, for youth ages 11-18: Learn to Lead, Urban Apprentice, and Urban Business Adventures. These programs have been created and shaped in partnership with youth participants, and each takes a unique and thoughtful approach to preparing youth for work and leadership roles as an adult.

Youth Express’ service area consists primarily of neighborhoods in the Midway Area of St. Paul along I-94, including Snelling-Hamline, Lexington-Hamline, Hamline-Midway, Summit-University, and Thomas-Dale. Youth participants reflect the basic demographics of these neighborhoods.
