Over 30 years ago, a small group of young people met with Jim Kelley to discuss ways that they could have an active role in revitalizing their urban neighborhood. “I’m just tired of dogs biting me on the a**!” exclaimed one young person citing the problem of stray animals in the neighborhood. The group took on that challenge and, from those humble beginnings; an organization dedicated to youth-directed solutions was born.

Today, the Youth Express has grown dramatically and opportunities focus on youth leadership and entrepreneurship. But, at our core, we remain committed to partnering with young people in our community to create experiences that help them maximize their potential. And if stray animals become a problem again...
