Learn to Lead

Learn to Lead is a year-round program to prepare youth for leadership roles at Youth Express, school, home or the community. LTL program opportunities start at middle school and extend through high school. At the middle school level, a range of activities help youth, ages 11-14, uncover their strengths, learn the challenges/rewards of working with others, and develop responsible decision-making skills. In high school, ages 14 and up, participants focus on developing their own style of leadership through interactive training, paid internships, and relevant enrichment.

LTL Middle School Highlights

• Year-round, weekly meetings.
• Small/large group challenges or activities.
• Gender-specific activities and workshops.
• Youth recognized for attendance, performance on challenges, and teamwork.
• Field trips and retreats for bonding and celebration of group accomplishments.

LTL High School Highlights

• Paid internships at Middle School program provide leadership/work experience.
• Training in youth development, activity planning, etc. to support youth interns/volunteers.
• Enriching and recreational activities to have fun and bond with other interns.
